What is it with What's On TV's obsession with Stacey Slater? She has been the main cover story in the weekly magazine every week for around 5 or 6 weeks now (apart from last week - 3-9 March). It's getting kinda boring.
And how about, dare I say it, NOT having the main cover story as a soap story for once. There are plenty of good programmes on the TV that aren't soaps. We're not all obsessed with them you know!!!!
I'm not a soap opera fan whatsoever and don't watch any of them. I'm sure I'm not in the minority when I say, that as a TV guide, the What's On TV team should give equal coverage to other programme genres.

Steve

I know what you mean. The magazine often looks SO similar that I have to check the date to make sure its the new TV guide:rolleyes:

Definitely. I don't follow the soaps as I've said, but it's not even as though the story line is any good. I mean, it's some silly young girtl having her way with two gingers

this magazine usually has Eastenders on the front cover - perhaps it should be "What's On Eastenders"?

I want Neighbours to appear on the cover for a change!

Yes, it'd be nice to see Neighbours on the front cover of the TV Guide -but it's unlikely to happen.
All of the Mags are obsessed with British Soaps!

Yes they are. And there are far better programmes on TV than soaps. Better actors, better scripting, just better all round. Soaps are atrocious, and so unrealistic and predictable.
1. Man meets woman.
2. Man and woman have a whirlwind romance.
3. Man and woman plan to get married
4. Man sleeps with another woman/Woman sleeps with another man.
5. Man continues affair/Woman gets pregnant and pretends it's man's baby
6. Wedding day ruined when one of them confesses or other finds out, or "other person" turns up.
zzzzzzzzz
need I go on?

I do like to watch soaps, but don't take them seriously.
It's true, many storys do look quite contrived, but remember; soaps take real life situations, (and nine times out of ten) exaggerate them and add a twist, you're free to use your imagination here, to get the biggest story headlines.
Corry and the other soaps are popular for their content, as they offer a level of escapism that non-fiction programs; The News, Panorama.. etc, do not offer.
