Duncan James and Ashley Slanina-Davies chat about their Hollyoaks characters' relationship coming to an end, at the National TV Awards

Hollyoaks partners Duncan James and Ashley Slanina-Davies are filming ‘very horrible scenes’ while shooting her exit storyline.

Ashley plays Amy Barnes, who will die in a dark whodunnit, and her partner Ryan Knight (Duncan) will struggle to cope.

Duncan told What’s on TV at the National TV Awards: “Unfortunately Ryan is going to be devastated when his beloved Amy is dead.”

So how will Ryan’s world change? “There’s some huge twists and turns happening for Ryan, including a new character who’s going to come in and throw his world upside down. They won’t tell me who’ve they’ve cast, but I know it’s a celebrity.”

Ashley, meanwhile, is at university, studying neuroscience…. and she says it’s not such a departure from the world of TV.

She said: “Acting is like an emotional understanding of people whereas neuroscience is a scientific understanding of people, so they’re very much related.”

Watch Duncan and Ashley talk about their relationship off camera as well as on, above.

*Duncan was nominated in the Newcomer category at the National TV Awards, but the honour went to Corrie’s Faye Brookes
