Isla Fisher has revealed that she doesn’t mind if people remind her of her days on Home and Away, unlike former co-star Melissa George.
The 36-year-old actress, who played Shannon Reed in the Australian soap from 1994 to 1997, has since carved out a successful career in Hollywood, starring in comedies like Wedding Crashers, Hot Rod and Confessions Of A Shopaholic.
“I feel like everything in the past has led me to where I am today, and I’m incredibly grateful for that experience and that exposure,” she said at the UK premiere of her latest film Rise Of The Guardians.
Isla, who voices the Tooth Fairy in the animated feature, added: “I’ve been lucky that the people that remember that part of my life feel quite sentimental about it, so I always feel super-sentimental about it too.
“To be honest, no one has really brought it up for years. When people come up to me now, it’s for Wedding Crashers, not Home and Away.”
Melissa, who played Angel Parrish from 1993 to 1996, was not happy after she was recently asked about her soap days on Australian talk show The Morning Show.
“Right behind my head was pictures of Angel and on the montage they called me ‘Home and Away actress Melissa George’… My next call will be to Home and Away to ask them to pay me because nobody does more promotion for that f***ing show than me’,” she told The Age.
The 36-year-old later tweeted: “Anyone can ask me about the past, I always smiled and spoke about it, of course I am proud. But the today show was mean. I hurt. I know I have more work to do, & better characters to play, but coming home is special not to be put down. I leave Oz feeling ;(“
