Neighbours star Stefan Dennis has been forced to cancel a proposed trip to the UK as fires continue to rage in Australia.

The actor – best known for playing ruthless businessman Paul Robinson in the Five soap – was due to carry out publicity work in Britain towards the end of February.

But bush fires are reportedly close to his home in the Victoria region of Australia – where 181 people have already confirmed to have died following arson attacks in the area.

That, coupled with the fact that a heat wave and more blazes have been predicted for next week, have prompted the 50-year-old to rethink his plans.

His decision is quite understandable, particularly as he has a young family to consider. He and wife Gail have three children – boys Cameron and Declan, and baby daughter Darci.

Stefan says he hopes to rearrange his trip. Until then, UK-based Neighbours fans will have to watch him on their favourite soap instead, which airs weekdays on Five at 1.30pm and 5.30pm.
