The final ever episode of Last Of The Summer Wine - now the longest-running sitcom in TV history - will be screened on BBC One on Sunday night.
The show - featuring the exploits of a group of pensioners growing old 'disgracefully' - first aired in 1973 and since then has spawned an impressive 295 episodes spanning 31 series.
At its peak in the 70s it pulled in audiences of around 18-20 million.
And it introduced the world to such memorable characters as Nora Batty, played by Kathy Staff, and Compo, played by the late Bill Owen.
The series also catapulted the Yorkshire town of Holmfirth, where it is filmed, into the spotlight.
Greg Christofi of Holmfirth Central for Holme Valley Paris Council said the town would miss the series but would learn to cope in its absence.
"The programme has been really good for us, it's brought a lot of attention to Holmfirth," he said. "We are proud of it.
"It has showcased our town and been good for the local economy."
