Cheryl 'grateful' no children involved in divorce

Cheryl Cole has revealed she is moving on from her divorce from footballer husband Ashley, and is grateful they hadn't started a family before they split.

The 27-year-old X Factor judge - whose divorce after four years of marriage was finalised last week - has spoken out for the first time since their split to Vogue, after keeping a dignified silence about allegations that Ashley had cheated on her.

Asked if she felt betrayed, Cheryl said: "Yes definitely I do, but I've got to take everything that's happened and learn from it.

"I've just got to be grateful that I've got so many good things going on. I have, and there's no children you know? Some people's lives fall apart. Of course, it's heartbreaking, but it's not anything remotely like it could have been and I'm very, very grateful for that."

But despite being relieved she did not have a family with Ashley, Cheryl revealed becoming a mother is something she aspires to in the future.

She said: "That's definitely something I want to achieve. It's the toughest job in the world, but I know it must be the most rewarding too. I'm ready now. I'm 27. I'm a woman, not a girl any more.

"Thinking about yourself constantly isn't so healthy. I suppose that's the point of having children, isn't it? Being able to live your life through them instead of you, having them be your motivation?

"That's the 'right' thing, I'm thinking - when you love someone more than you love yourself. That's what I think about my mum."
