Ex-Hollyoaks star blames size for lack of work

Former Hollyoaks actress Mikyla Dodd has spoken out about how she has struggled to get acting roles because of her size.

The flame-haired star, who played Chloe Bruce in the Channel 4 soap for nearly five years, says she hankers after further acting roles but realises that there aren't that many suited to her size.

"The first year after leaving Hollyoaks I wasn't offered anything and was really upset. It was like I'd become invisible," she says.

"I don't think the roles are out there for me. I know that if I lost more weight and was 5ft 10 I'd get more roles."

And Mikyla, who now works as a recruitment consultant, says she despises the image of size zero models in magazines.

"They disgust me in a big way. It worries me. You are going to end up with just as much of a problem at the other end of the scale to obesity.

"If skinny models want to starve themselves, let them get on with it, but don't put their picture everywhere so we all think it's normal to look like that."

Mikyla says her size prevents her getting acting jobs
