Coronation Street: Jim McDonald is back

Look out Liz - fiery Jim McDonald is on his way back to Weatherfield.

Actor Charlie Lawson, 47, is about to sign a six-week contract with Coronation Street bosses and can be seen in a festive storyline.

Fans of the ITV1 soap last saw Jim four years ago, when he went on the run from prison officers after discovering that Liz had been having a fling with a pub landlord in Blackpool.

Whether Liz will be pleased to see her ex-hubby again remains to be seen.

"We're guessing not - though with those two, anything can happen," a Coronation Street source told The Sun.

The actor will start filming his scenes in October. The comeback episodes will be aired just before Christmas.

The Belfast-born star is also lined up to appear in a 2008 TV movie, Murder By Appointment. During the festive period, Charlie will be taking to the stage to play Abanazer in a Stockport Plaza production of Aladdin.
