Brits abroad miss Dr Who, says survey

Dr Who star David Tennant has been voted the TV star Britons miss most when they are on holiday abroad.

Chat show host Jonathan Ross came next in the poll commissioned by Virgin Media. Geordie duo Ant and Dec, Big Brother host Davina McCall and Coronation Street couple Jack and Vera followed.

The survey showed that British people are so obsessed with TV that they think about it on holiday.

It revealed that more than one in three men (37 per cent) choose their trips abroad around the football fixtures.

Women are also addicted to the small screen - 17 per cent would rather arrange their holiday around favourite reality TV shows than grab a holiday bargain.

Around a third of Britons (35 per cent) seek out British bars to watch home-grown shows while away in order to not miss out.

Ten percent of 16 to 24-year-olds would rather take time off work to watch their favourite shows than go on holiday.

A fifth (20 per cent) said they missed TV more than their partners, and 6 per cent pined after their favourite shows more than their children.

The poll also found that 19 per cent of people admit that the first thing they do when they walk in the door after a holiday is turn on the TV.

Rumours are rife that David Tennant will quit his starring role in Doctor Who after next year's fourth series. Former Cold Feet star James Nesbitt is said to be a hot favourite to play the new timelord. The BBC has not confirmed these rumours as yet.
