Home and Away's Isabel gets her teeth into movies

Home and Away's Isabel Lucas starts filming scenes this week for her first movie, a vampire thriller with Hollywood A-lister Ethan Hawke.

Isabel, who played Tasha Andrews in the Summer Bay soap, will make her film debut in a movie called Daybreakers.

The Melbourne-based actress now has a chance to help her soap settle an uneven score with rival Aussie show Neighbours.

Former Neighbours actresses such as Kylie Minogue, Delta Goodrem, and Natalie Imbruglia have so far given the Ramsay St crew the lead in producing successful starlets.

Some of Home and Away's successful female exports include the other Minogue sister, Dannii.

After two weeks on Australia's Gold Coast set perfecting her American accent and undertaking stunt and weaponry training, Isabel will begin filming this week.

Isabel said: "It's healthy to be nervous and I am sure I will be on the first day of shooting.

"But it's amazing and I feel incredibly fortunate working with such talented actors. I am like a sponge taking it all in."

Daybreakers concerns an unknown plague that transforms the world's population into vampires.

The plot revolves around Ethan Hawke's character Ed, a researcher. Isabel plays one of the last surviving members of the human race in the grisly horror flick.

Daybreakers is scheduled for a worldwide release next year.
