Justin Hawkins to play Screaming Lord Sutch

Former Darkness star Justin Hawkins has landed an appropriate movie role - as Screaming Lord Sutch.

Justin, who lost out to camp pop act Scooch in Eurovision: Making Your Mind Up, is set to play the founder of the Monster Raving Loony Party in a new movie entitled Telstar.

The film has an all-star cast and crew, which includes Kevin Spacey and Nick Moran as director and Justin says he loved every 'split second' of the part.

"Nick Moran has been directing me with warm encouragement, which makes it slightly easier to operate outside my comfort zone," he added.

Filming took place just as the glam rocker celebrated spending a year without using any drugs or alcohol.

He said: "What a difference a year makes. Not a drop of alcohol has passed these lips, nor has a granule of cocaine entered these nostrils."

Telstar tells the story of oddball record producer Joe Meek, who shot his landlady, then himself, in a drug induced stupor.
