Susie Amy lands role as Coronation Street psycho

Footballers' Wives actress Susie Amy is set to cause chaos on the cobbles when she joins the cast of Coronation Street.

Susie - who played Chardonnay Lane-Pascoe in ITV1's racy football drama - will play Lindsey, the crazy ex-wife of Carla Connor's new man Tony Gordon.

And the first thing she does when she arrives in Weatherfield is slap her love rival, factory boss Carla, played by Alison King.

After Tony wins Carla's affections by filling her office with roses, his deranged ex goes on the warpath.

This is Susie's first major TV role since Footballers' Wives made her a household name in 2002.

Susie starts filming on Coronation Street at the end of October and viewers will see Lindsey and Carla vie for Tony's affections in early December.

A show insider told the Daily Star: "Susie has proved herself a sensational actor of TV, in movies and the theatre.

"It is a massive coup for us to have her. Her role certainly packs a punch - at least as far as Carla is concerned."
