Myleene quits The One Show

Myleene Klass has quit as presenter of BBC1's The One Show in order to spend more time with her baby daughter, it has been confirmed.

The 29-year-old singer, who gave birth to baby Ava in August, had been taking a break from the early evening current affairs programme, but was due to return in a few weeks.

"Myleene has decided with a new baby and all her other commitments that she simply can't manage the level of commitment that's needed to co-present a live, daily show," said a BBC spokesman.

"Everyone at the BBC completely understands and respects this position."

Myleene will, however, continue to appear on the programme as a guest reporter.

"We are delighted that Myleene is not going to be leaving the show altogether," the spokesman added, "but will be taking on a different role - she will still be making frequent appearances fronting films and strands within the show."

"So, she will still be very much a part of The One Show family."

Myleene joined The One Show earlier in the year before giving birth
