Curly describes his and Vera's 'magical chemistry'

Kevin Kennedy has paid tribute to Liz Dawn - who is leaving Coronation Street.

Liz, famous for playing Vera Duckworth, appears in her last episode of Coronation Street on Friday night.

Kevin - who played Curly Watts in Weatherfield for 20 years - told the Daily Mirror: "When I first arrived on the Street as Curly Watts, Liz Dawn was warm and welcoming, making me feel immediately part of the team.

"I lived in six different places in Coronation Street, but living with Jack and Vera was my favourite. There was a magical chemistry at work between Bill and Liz and then with me when I joined them.

"We had a lot of fun taking the mickey out of each other and that came across on screen.

"But Liz is totally different from Vera. She is very much family oriented and is very protective and loyal to her friends."

He continued: "Liz has got a place in Spain which she adores and she will spend time there in the sunshine and back in Britain with her family. And she deserves every bit of happiness."

Liz is leaving the soap due to the lung disease, emphysema.
