The One And Only: Madonna gets the boot!
19/01/2008 - 21:57

Madonna tribute act Evelyne Brink has become the latest performer to be given her marching orders from The One And Only..
The 31-year-old, from Frankfurt, was in the bottom two on the show for the second week running, following the public vote on Saturday night.
Last week she was voted back in by her fellow singers - but this week, after reprising her performance of the 80s chart topper Papa Don't Preach, she lost out to Diana Ross impersonator Siam Hurlock.
Evelyne told presenter Graham Norton she had loved her time on the show. "I would have liked to have had more," she admitted, "but it's been very good. "I've loved every minute."
The singer's performance came in for a mixed response from show judges David and Carrie Grant. David praised her "intensity and presence", but complained that her vocals were "wavering".
"Even if you sound like Madonna, if you're not able to hold the pitch that will undermine however good your performance is," he said.
Carrie, however, disagreed. "You did deliver tonight," she told Evelyne, "you did exactly what we've been working on."
Ten performers now remain in the competition, which aims to find Britain's best tribute act.
Among those who are still in the running are Frank Sinatra impersonator Anthony Adams, Kylie tribute act Victoria Jones, Elton John soundalike Ed Hintze and Cher tribute singer Joanna Berns.
