'Tina' actress gets longer deal on Coronation St

Actress Michelle Keegan gets to spice up Coronation Street for a little while longer after signing a new six-month contract.

The Street's sexy new arrival, who plays David Platt's first girlfriend Tina McIntyre, has apparently convinced producers to fork out to keep her for the rest of the year.

The 20-year-old was only supposed to feature in the show for six months.

Bur soap bosses have reportedly been so impressed with the former airport check-in worker that they offered her a further six-month deal, said to be worth £60,000.

"I'm having an amazing time," Michelle told the Daily Star. "I was originally contracted for six months so I am delighted that this had now been extended."

But the actress, who is reported to be dating Hollyoaks' Anthony Quinlan, apparently said she was not out to take on former Coronation Street actress Tina O'Brien's sex symbol mantle.

She went on: "I'm proud to be considered the new sex kitten of the Street.

"But don't think I'm trying to step into Tina's shoes - she was amazing."

Michelle has signed up for another six months
