Caroline Quentin's got the Life of Riley

Caroline Quentin is to star in her own new sitcom, Life Of Riley.

The Jonathan Creek actress plays Rosie, who has just married second husband Jim and is learning to cope with their two dysfunctional families becoming one.

Producer Catherine Bailey said: "We developed the script through BBC Scotland and we are very excited to be filming Life Of Riley at the wonderful new studios at Pacific Quay."

The six-part series is one of two new sitcoms produced by BBC Scotland.

Roger Lloyd Pack - playing Trigger in Only Fools And Horses - is to star in The Old Guys, which will also be filmed in Pacific Quay studios. The series, written by award-winning writers Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong along with Peep Show's Simon Blackwell, features two lusty elderly delinquents, Tom and Roy, who are determined not to let old age stop them from enjoying life.

Executive Producer, BBC Scotland's Head of Comedy and Entertainment, Alan Tyler, said: "I am delighted to announce two brand new six-part sitcoms for BBC One from BBC Scotland. I'm looking forward to working with this calibre of talent both on and off screen. It is very exciting to be producing these in the Pacific Quay studios in Glasgow for both a Scottish and network audience."
