Missing presenter's best friend makes a plea

The best friend of missing television presenter Mark Speight has urged him to get in touch after he hasn't been seen for four days.

Stu Goldsmith made the plea as police continued to investigate the disappearance of the 42-year-old whose fiancee, Natasha Collins, died of a drugs overdose in January.

Mr Goldsmith, 42, who has known the BBC presenter since they met at school said he feared his friend was on the verge of a nervous breakdown.

He told the Daily Mirror: "All I am doing is asking him to come forward because his family are so worried about him. I have no idea where he is at the moment. All I hope is that he is all right.

Speight was last seen at Queen's Park Tube station boarding a southbound train at 2.47pm on Monday, five days after an inquest found Natasha Collins died in a scalding hot bath after taking cocaine, wine and vodka.

He was due to meet a relative in Covent Garden at 3.30pm but never arrived and the alarm was raised shortly afterwards.
