Davina McCall to become an actress?

Davina McCall is set to bow out as host of Big Brother - so that she can pursue an acting career.

Davina, who has presented the reality show since it began on Channel 4 eight years ago, apparently wants to put TV presenting on the back burner so she can launch a serious acting career, it has been reported.

The 40-year-old mother-of-three is thought to have signed up with the agent who was responsible for launching former teen pop singer Billie Piper's acting career in the hope that career can be similarly transformed.

An insider said: "She has finally realised the time is right to move on."

The insider added that Davina is "very excited" and is convinced that the agent "can turn her into a serious actor".

The next series of Big Brother - with Davina in charge - kicks off on Channel 4 in a few weeks.
