The Apprentice: Will two become four?

Sir Alan Sugar is poised to depart from the norm and choose four candidates to fight out the The Apprentice finale, rather than the usual two.

The mogul is reported by The Daily Mirror to have made the decision because he is undecided about which of the seven remaining wannabe Apprentices could become his sidekick.

A show source revealed: "As the series has gone on, Sir Alan has found it harder to narrow down the field.

"He is torn between a number of possible Apprentices."

The report suggests each of the four finalists will bring back a fired candidate to work alongside them in the final task.

The BBC declined to comment on the format for the final, or whether it might be forced to move the top-rating series from its Wednesday slot next week to Tuesday, to accommodate the football friendly between England and the United States.
