E4 plans late-night Hollyoaks

Hollyoaks' fans are in for a treat - E4 is planning a week of late-night episodes of the popular teen soap.

Late Night Hollyoaks will follow some of the Channel 4 soap's regular characters in a range of storylines which will be shown as five hour-long episodes during a week in November.

The series was ordered by C4's drama commissioning editor Camilla Campbell after Hollyoaks picked up six of the top gongs at this year's British Soap Awards in May.

Hollyoaks has already enjoyed huge success with its late-night incarnations, including eight single episodes and three spin-off series ...Movin' On, Let Loose and In The City.

Storylines for Late Night Hollyoaks are set to include Craig Dean returning to save his sister in a dramatic cliff-top rescue; characters travelling to Belfast with expected results; and an unlikely marriage.

Tony Wood, executive producer for Lime Pictures, said: "Hollyoaks is now viewed by 16 million people across the week and is up 24 per cent on E4.

"It's fitting that the programme should expand across that channel where its audience is growing fastest. This new hour-long format will give far greater scope to explore our characters."
