Nancy finalist lands West End role

I'd Do Anything reject Rachel Tucker is set for West End stardom after winning a part in the hit musical We Will Rock You.

The BBC News website reports that the Irish singer - who finished fourth in BBC1's recent talent search - will take to the stage at London's Dominion Theatre in September, playing the role of Meat in the show.

"It is a dream part," the 26-year-old said. "We Will Rock You is one of my favourite shows. I first saw it when I was a student at the Royal Academy and loved it."

"I am beside myself with excitement. I just can't believe it

Rachel had been one of the favourites to win I'd Do Anything, which saw 12 hopefuls competing to land the role of Nancy in Andrew Lloyd Webber's new West End production of Oliver!

However she narrowly missed out on a place in the final. The role eventually went to Blackpool agony aunt Jodie Prenger, with the production set to open later in the year.

Rachel's not Nancy, but she will rock you instead
