The X Factor: Rachel's out!

Rachel Hylton was booted off The X Factor on Saturday night after ending up in the bottom two for the third week running.

Rachel, who found herself in the sing-off with JLS, sang And I Am Telling You from the film Dreamgirls while JLS performed Stand By Me/Beautiful Girl.

Earlier in the evening, the two acts were at the centre of a row between Dannii Minogue and Louis Walsh after Dannii was accused of 'stealing' a song for Rachel that Louis wanted for JLS.

Unsurprisingly, Louis and Dannii both chose to keep their act in the competition.

Fellow judge Cheryl Cole opted to save the last remaining group JLS, saying: "Based on going forward in the competition, I'm going to have to send home Rachel."

Simon Cowell then gave his verdict. He said: "Rachel, I really like you but it's been three times. JLS, I don't know what went wrong tonight.

"The act I'm sending home, and I really, really, really don't like doing this, is Rachel."

But Rachel, whose personal problems have been well-documented on the ITV1 show, seemed to take the result in her stride. "I'm fine," she said. "Someone has to go home so it's OK."

Also on the results show, last year's finalists Same Difference and runner-up Rhydian Roberts performed tracks from their new albums.
