EastEnders' Gus is cautioned for assault

EastEnders star Mohammed George has been cautioned by police for assaulting his girlfriend in a late-night incident.

The 24-year-old who plays Gus Smith in the BBC One soap, was cautioned by police for common assault, at London's Holborn police station.

He was arrested after an incident with girlfriend Emma Archibald in Camden, London, earlier this year.

Crown Prosecution Service reviewing lawyer Mark Jones-Dawson said: "In light of further evidence provided to police by Mr George today, including an admission of the offence and an apology to the victim, we advised police to administer a caution.

"In coming to this decision we considered all of the circumstances of this case, including the view of the victim."

The actor has been a member of the EastEnders cast since 2002. He also took part in Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two last year.
