Parky slams 'vulgar' Apprentice

Many of us will be glued to our screens for the next few weeks to see the latest bunch of recruits try their hand at pleasing Sir Alan Sugar in The Apprentice, but chat show king Michael Parkinson won't.

According to the Daily Mirror, the veteran TV host slammed the hit programme - calling it 'distasteful' and 'vulgar'.

The 72-year-old hit out just moments after a trailer for The Apprentice was aired during his Sunday jazz spot on Radio 2.

"I have an aversion to that programme," he said. "I find it distasteful. It's full of vulgar, loud people, who, for all the wrong reasons, are dobbing each other in."

Speaking about Sir Alan, Parky added: "When he tells someone, 'You're fired', what's funny about that? You're fired. There's nothing funny about it."

The new series of the hit show started last week - and father-of-three Andy Jackson was given the boot.
