Tears flow as Grease finds last 16
21/04/2007 - 17:13

60 contestants became 16 as the judges wielded the axe in Saturday's Grease Is The Word.
The remaining 60 hopefuls had been placed in an intensive Bootcamp, where they had to prove their singing skills before being paired off into potential Dannys and Sandys.
But the standard of the contestants' dancing was a problem for the judges - particularly for David Gest, who claimed it was the worst he had ever seen in his life. "This is not the way you do it," he said before storming out of the room. "None of you can play this role yet."
And there was plenty of emotion for the Bootcampers as they faced the judging panel to see if they had made it to the last 16. Pub singer Joanna Power had spent most of the programme in tears because of her nerves and broke down as David Gest put her through to the final.
"Your first two days weren't great but there is talent there," he told the 22-year-old. "We have come to a decision. I hate to tell you this but... you're going to be the happiest girl in the world. You're going to the final."
The eight potential Dannys were Tom Bradley, Danny Bayne, Bradley Clarkson, Anthony Kavanagh, Richard Morgan, Michael Quinn, Danny Rhodes and Wayne Smith. And the eight Sandys remaining were Michelle Antrobus, Hayley Clarke, Alison Crawford, Vicky Hoyles, Lauren McConnell, Susan McFadden, Joanna Power and Kate Somerset-How.
The final 16 contestants will be paired off in next week's show.
