Emmerdale star faces rape trial ruling

Ben Freeman, who plays Scott Windsor in Emmerdale, will learn on Friday whether he has to stand trial for rape in the West Indies.

The 26-year-old actor is accused of attacking a 16-year-old British girl at a resort in Barbados, reports the Daily Mirror.

A magistrate is due to make his ruling after listening to evidence from a dozen witness.

Freeman claims the sex was consensual. The alleged victim did not give evidence, but her statement was read out in court.

Freeman's QC argued that there was not enough evidence for a trial and asked for the charge to be dismissed. If convicted of rape, the actor faces life jail.
