BBC allows big shows online

Missed your favourite BBC show and forgotten to record it? Don't worry - very soon you'll be able to watch it on the internet.

BBC shows such as Doctor Who and EastEnders are to be made available on-demand after the BBC's iPlayer service was given the green light by the BBC Trust.

When it launches later this year, key BBC shows will go online for seven days after they've screened on TV. The episodes can then be downloaded and stored for up to 30 days.

As well, every episode of some series will be made available until a week after transmission of the final instalment... but this will only apply to 15 per cent of all content offered by the service.

The iPlayer computer application will only be initially available to those with Windows PCs, although Apple Mac users will eventually also be catered for.

Doctor Who is one of many shows that will be available
