Final six Your Country Needs You! acts revealed

The six acts battling it out for the chance to represent the UK at this year's Eurovision have been revealed.

The hopefuls will be trying to impress the public and the judges Pete Waterman, who wrote this year's song, last year's entry Jade Ewen and Strictly Come Dancing's Bruno Tonioli during the live show Your Country Needs You!

Girl group Miss Fitz, who wowed the X Factor judges with their jazz version of the Britney Spears hit Toxic last year, will be up against band UNI5 who came together for the competition.

Four solo singers are also in the running with performing arts student Alexis who claims to be influenced by Rod Stewart and Freddie Mercury and professional singer Josh both battling it out in the competition.

Finishing the line up are Karen, who has been singing since the age of seven and is now a professional performer, and sixth form college student Esma who was brought up in Austria.

Pete Waterman said: "So far we've got the song and we've got six acts – now all we're waiting for is the public to get behind the search for the UK entry and then we can really get to work.

"But we're in it together and myself and Mike Stock are proud to be involved."

After live performances from the six acts and feedback from the panel, Pete will choose three acts to debut the Eurovision song.

Then it's time for the viewers to choose, as the winner will be decided by a public vote.

Last year, Jade came sixth in the Eurovision final in Moscow with the track It's My Time, written by Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Graham Norton, host of Your Country Needs You, said: “If any man can second guess European musical tastes surely that man is Pete Waterman. I can't wait to get to Oslo and see the competition.

"Fingers crossed we can build on last year's success."

He added: "Here’s to all the usual fun, glamour, and madness of Eurovision, this year with the added extra of a faint whiff of pickled herring.”

Don't miss Eurovision: Your Country Needs You! on BBC One at 8.30pm on Friday March 12.
