'Evil Duckworth' set for Coronation St

Jack Duckworth's world is set to be rocked by the appearance of his good-for-nothing grandson, Paul.

The 21-year-old was last seen on Coronation Street in 2000, when grandmother Vera Duckworth (Liz Dawn) donated a kidney to save his life. She stepped in when callous son Terry (Paul's dad), took £25,000 from her and Jack in return for having the operation himself, before running off with the money. As Paul lay dying in hospital, Vera put herself under the knife and donated one of her own.

But gratitude won't be at the forefront of Paul's mind when he is introduced to the soap later this summer. Insiders say he will shock the Street with his womanising ways, and be a constant source of grief to Jack and Vera.

"He's going to be a real heartbreaker," said the source. "He'll be charming but have a bad streak, too."

Coronation Street bosses are currently working on a shortlist of actors to play the re-introduced, evil Paul.

It's the end of the quiet life for Jack Duckworth
