X Factor finalist Ruth writes songs for Dannii

Dannii Minogue is recording a new album with songs penned by Ruth Lorenzo, the former X Factor contestant she mentored, according to reports.

The Spanish former X Factor contestant, who finished fifth behind Alexandra Burke two years ago, played Because You're Beautiful to a then-pregnant Dannii as they had dinner, reports The Sun.

Ruth, 27, said: "She was rocking out with her big belly doing air guitar. She loved it. I said if she wanted to sing it she could have it. We got in the studio. It was so much fun."

Since then, the pair have been working on songs together and have been in the studio recording one, the newspaper said.

The recording was the first time Dannii, 38, who has just given birth to son Ethan, had been in a studio since making her 2003 album Neon Lights.

Dannii said: "It's kind of scary. It's like getting back on the horse."

The scenes will feature in Dannii's new ITV2 show Style Queen.
