Actress Christina Applegate, best known for her role in the 80s sitcom Married With Children, has been diagnosed with breast cancer, according to reports.
The 36-year-old’s publicist said that the cancer had been caught in its early stages and was treatable.
“The cancer is not life threatening,” Ame Van Iden told the US TV show Extra. “She is following the recommended treatment of her doctors and will have a full recovery.”
Applegate sprang to fame as teenager Kelly Bundy on Married With Children, which ran for 10 years from 1987-1997.
More recently she has received Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for her role in the hit comedy Samantha Who?, in which she plays a woman who wakes from an eight-day coma with no memory of her past.
She also made a guest appearance in Friends as the sister of Jennifer Aniston’s character Rachel Green, a role which won her an Emmy Award.
On the big screen she has appeared in Anchorman, Mars Attacks! and the chick flick The Sweetest Thing, while her latest film The Rocker is released later this month.
