Top secrecy surrounds the filming of ITV’s Broadchurch 2, which is due to be shown next year.

But fans of the hit murder mystery may get to see “Detective” David Tennant back in action before then, as rumour has it ITV are hoping to show Gracepoint, the American remake of Broadchurch before the end of this year.

In the 10-part drama, David stars as a different detective character, Emmett Carver, paired with Detective Ellie Miller (Anna Gunn from Breaking Bad) to investigate the murder of a young boy in a small coastal town in California.

Although the similar sounding series has been written by Broadchurch creator, Chris Chibnall, there may be a twist in the tale, with a different killer unmasked at the end.

“I keep being asked, ‘Was it odd to tell the same story again?’ Of course, from a theater background it’s not at all, it’s what you do eight times a week,” says David. “In fact, I was doing it in a whole new set of circumstances, surrounded by completely different actors, at times telling completely different parts of the story.”
