Jake, who plays Mateo in the hit ITV which will be back on our screens very soon, is delighted to report that there are lots of exciting guests on the show including a parade of well-known 1980s pop stars.

“Spandau Ballet was my era, so I was chuffed when Tony Hadley came out to sing on the show,” says Jake.

“Holly Johnson is in an episode and sings Frankie Goes to Hollywood’s The Power of Love and Relax. Carol Decker from T’Pau also guest stars, comedians Hale and Pace are in a few episodes, and The Chuckle Brothers arrive in the resort too.”

Roll up, roll up for an unforgettable evening at the Benidorm circus!

On top of that, Michael Starke (aka Brookside’s Sinbad) has a recurring role, while another former Brookie star, Claire Sweeney makes a guest appearance.

Meanwhile, Shane Ritchie reprises his role as outdated entertainer Sammy Valentino, and Nigel Havers returns as the local dodgy dentist, Stanley.

“All our guest stars are fans of the show,” says Jake. “When they arrive in Spain they can’t believe they’re actually on the Benidorm set!”

The new series will also see Sherrie Hewson’s hotel manageress Joyce set to marry the love of her life, Monty (John Challis).

Watch Jake Canuso and co when Benidorm returns soon on ITV for a documentary celebrating 10 years of the Show on February 20 followed shortly after by the long-awaited 10th series.
