Doctor Foster

‘I love Tom. I don’t want to hurt him, just you,’ sneers shifty Simon to Gemma this week. Unfortunately, the way they’re both carrying on with their vicious point-scoring, their troubled teenage son is really bearing the brunt. As their split continues to take its toll on him, Tom clearly needs them to stop their increasingly twisted machinations and instead focus on him and offer him some much-needed help… Amidst all the tension, however, a collective cheer may go up around the country when Tom finally snaps and asks his dad to desist from his annoying habit of calling him ‘mate’! Meanwhile, as neighbour Anna offers Gemma the benefit of her wisdom, will she take it on board? Rating: *****

Alaska: A Year in the Wild, 9.00pm, C5

Alaska: A Year in the Wild

Facing everything Mother Nature can throw at them, the wildlife of Alaska must use all of their survival skills to make it through one of the toughest winters on Earth. As the temperatures drop to a staggering -60°C, the sea freezes and vast swathes of the largest US state are plunged into darkness for two long months, Alaska’s creatures prepare. Episode one of this stunning four-part documentary series follows Arctic specialists like hare and foxes who moult their coats, turning from brown to white to camouflage themselves in deep snow, and American red squirrels in temperate rainforests, battling to hang on to their food stores. Will they make it through to spring? Rating: ****

Call the Cleaners, 8.30pm, ITV

Call the Cleaners

This three-part series follows teams of extreme cleaners as they tackle some seriously messy homes. First up are sisters Yvonne and Angela who are tackling a flat in London. The elderly resident hasn’t been able to cope since her husband died nine years ago and the flat is in a terrible and tragic state of disrepair. Our second team of dust busters are mum and daughter Maxine and Jasmine (pictured). They are in south London, helping a hoarder to clear his house of everything he’s collected over the years. Shaun and his Somerset-based team, meanwhile, clear a rubbish-filled house for a landlord. Strong stomachs and Marigolds a must! Rating: ***
