Danny Dyer has admitted that he’s happy to be playing a good guy in his latest project.

The actor, who is famous for playing villains and hooligans in such films as The Football Factory and The Business, plays Detective Sergeant Matt Costello in BBC1’s new crime drama Kiss of Death.

And Danny told whatsontv.co.uk that he was pleased that he’d been given the chance to play a cop rather than a robber.

He said: “Usually I’m a villain, on the other side of the law, so I was quite chuffed that someone would even think about me to play a detective.

“I’ve never really had the chance to do that – usually I’m running from the old bill.”

Danny added that he was quite keen to shed his bad boy image.

“I’m 30 years of age and I want to start trying different things. I’m ready for that now.”
