Actor and singer Adam Rickitt is joining the cast of Hollyoaks as Kyle, an ex of Nancy's who also suffers with MS and who will throw a spanner in the works for Nancy's relationship with Darren.
Former Coronation Street actor Adam Rickitt has signed up to star in Hollyoaks.
Adam, who shot to fame playing Nick Tilsley on the Weatherfield cobbles, has been cast as Kyle, who is an ex of Nancy’s and is also, like Nancy, living with multiple sclerosis (MS).
The 38-year-old said: “I am really happy to be joining Hollyoaks… The key interest for me was in the storylines.
“They are amazing, taking the character on a real journey and something I am really enjoying playing a part in. Fingers crossed, the audience like the surprises as they keep coming.”
Viewers of the Channel 4 soap will see Kyle rekindle feelings for his ex, Nancy Osborne (Jessica Fox), who also suffers from MS, after bumping into her at a support meeting. The closeness between the former couple will immediately spell trouble for Nancy’s husband Darren and feathers are going to be ruffled.
Adam appeared in Coronation Street from 1997 to 1999 and from 2002 to 2004 and was in a relationship with Leanne (Jane Danson) who he famously eloped with. His most controversial storyline, watched by over 14 million viewers, was in 2003 when the character of Nick was involved in the series’ first gay kiss with Todd Grimshaw played by Bruno Langley.
The actor and singer, who married Good Morning Britain presenter, Katy Fawcett in 2014, also enjoyed a foray in the pop charts with singles such as I Breathe Again in 1999 and later appeared on ITV’s The Big Reunion. He was part of the supergroup 5th Story, for the show’s second series which saw him team up with Kenzie from Blazin’ Squad, Dane Bowers from Another Level, Kavana and Gareth Gates.
The actor will make his Hollyoaks debut in April.
