Casualty’s Jaye Griffiths reveals that Jacob’s discovery he has a son could drive a bigger wedge between him and Connie…

We’ve just about recovered from Casualty’s bombshell on Saturday night that Jacob is the biological father of Elle Gardner’s son, Blake. While best friends Jacob (Charles Venn) and Elle’s relationship seems to be broken beyond repair, there are other far-reaching and unimaginable consequences to come…

Jacob and Elle’s friendship is broken following her confession that he’s Blake’s father

Elle’s shock revelation that their one-night stand 17 years ago means that Jacob is actually Blake’s father has understandably put Jacob in a tailspin. Blake is still in the dark about his true paternity, as is everyone else in Holby, including Jacob’s former lover, Connie Beauchamp.

Jaye Griffiths, who plays Elle, explained to What’s on TV how Elle’s recent confession could be the death-nail in a reunion between Connie (Amanda Mealing) and Jacob:

“How will it impact on Connie that Jacob has a ready-made family with Elle? Jacob did have a child in Connie’s daughter Grace, Connie took that from him, and now he’s got his own child, so he needs her even less.”

Jaye, who has starred in The Bill, Doctors, Coronation Street, EastEnders and Silent Witness, also revealed Elle has no intention of becoming Holby ED’s clinical lead while Connie battles cancer:

“Elle’s done that and she’s got enough on her plate! Also, Connie is in the building, which means Connie will interfere. It would drive you to drink…can you imagine? Connie won’t be able to let go. Even if Connie died, from beyond the grave she’d still be running the ED because she’s a force of nature!”
