TV light entertainment star Jeremy Beadle has died after a short fight with pneumonia. He was 59.
The man behind Eighties TV hits like Beadle’s About and You’ve Been Framed leaves behind wife Sue and two daughters Cassie and Bonnie and stepchildren Leo and Claire.
Noel Edmonds said: “I am so shocked at the news. I didn’t realise he was so ill. We enjoyed a friendly rivalry over the years when I was doing the Late Late Breakfast Show and he was hosting Game For A Laugh. He was a consummate professional, but also a greatly misunderstood man – a great TV talent who was never truly appreciated.”
Beadle was diagnosed with cancer in 2005, but in spite of that he released three books in 2007 and was working on new TV projects.
As well as his remarkable TV career, Beadle worked tirelessly for charity, particularly Children with Leukaemia. It’s estimated he raised more than £100 million for charities of all descriptions. He was awarded an MBE in 2001.
