Quiz show Who Wants To Be A Millionaire is to begin choosing contestants at auditions in a bid to boost ratings, according to the papers.

The Sun reported on Saturday that interviews will be held up and down the country for hopefuls to appear on the show, which celebrates its tenth anniversary on air in 2008.

Viewers can still apply by phone or via the web and stand a chance of being picked randomly – but they now have the chance to explain on the website why they would be good on the show.

Show bosses will then tour the country meeting applicants. Show host Christ Tarrant said they were “looking for all kinds of people”.

At its peak, Millionaire once attracted 19 million viewers – but more recently ratings have slumped.
