Downton Abbey star and Girlfriends actress Phyllis Logan on the prospects of Downton the movie...
Downton Abbey star Phyllis Logan has revealed that negotiations haven’t even started on the movie version, but that she’d “definitely like to do it”.
Speaking to TV Times, Phyllis, who was a firm fan favourite as Mrs Hughes (later Carson) in the ITV hit, said that there was a will from the cast to make a film of the ITV hit.
“Negotiations haven’t even begun because it is a long process, but there is a will from all parties to get cracking on with it,” said Phyllis.
“I would definitely like to do it and have one last hurrah, so fingers crossed. I wouldn’t fancy it moving forward in time, though, if I have to put on old make-up and dodder around!”
Asked if she’d made lifelong friends on Downton Abbey, she replied: “Definitely. Everybody is off doing their own thing now, but I keep in touch with quite a few of them and we had a lovely reunion the other week, organised by Jim Carter [Mr Carson].
“Michelle Dockery [Lady Mary] is doing well in America and Lesley Nicol [Mrs Patmore] is having a fabulous time in California, but she’s coming over here soon, so it’ll be great to see her.”
Meanwhile, Phyllis is starring in ITV drama Girlfriends, which continues tonight on ITV at 9.00pm. Phyllis plays the slightly scatty Linda Hutchinson in the Kay Mellor drama.
“‘Linda is completely different from Mrs Hughes, but I’ve enjoyed playing a bit of a hippie!”
Girlfriends continues on ITV tonight at 9.00pm.
