Rolf Harris has been arrested after allegations of further sexual offences.
The BBC has reported that an 83-year-old man was arrested after allegations of further sexual offences when he made bail for offences he was originally arrested for in March.
Mr Harris has been rebailed until later in August.
He was only publicly named as a Yewtree suspect in April, when The Sun became the first media outlet to identify him in connection with the investigation.
The Metropolitan Police did not name Harris, but released a statement which said a man had been ‘further arrested on suspicion of sexual offences in connection with further allegations made to Operation Yewtree’.
The inquiry has been run in three strands – claims involving Savile, those involving Savile and others, and those involving others.
Mr Harris is being dealt with under the ‘others’strand, meaning the allegations have no link to shamed DJ Savile. He has not been charged with any offence and denies any wrongdoing.
The Sydney Morning Herald reported that he became emotional while performing at the Wickham Festival in Hampshire over the weekend.
He told the audience: “Just before I go any further I would just like to thank you all for my support… for your support.
“I didn’t say it very well, but you know what I mean. Thank you for your support, I will always wear it.”
