Russell Brand is to play an obsessive stalker in the new series of ITV1 serial killer thriller Cold Blood.

Coronation Street star Bill Ward (Charlie Stubbs) will also guest-star in the three new episodes, alongside the regular cast of Jemma Redgrave, John Hannah and Matthew Kelly.

Brand will play a character called Ally, who stalks Jake (John Hannah), while Ward will play Army lieutenant Paul Attwell.

Executive Producer Kieran Roberts said: “I am delighted that Cold Blood has been commissioned for three more films The writer, Tom Needham, has come up with three gripping storylines that will captivate the audience and leave them with a shocking finale.”

In the three new episodes, the team must establish the truth about a young girl’s murder; investigate a link between a number of deaths at an army base; and Brian Wicklow (Kelly) is still at the forefront of everyone’s minds.

Cold Blood will also see Pauline Quirke joining the cast as DI Hazel Norton.

The three episodes are currently being filmed and will screen later this year.
