Scarlett Moffatt's parents Betty and Mark have reportedly been axed from Gogglebox as Scarlett is now a celebrity.

Scarlett Moffatt’s parents have reportedly been dropped from Gogglebox – because Scarlett is now a star herself.

Bosses have decided to leave mum Betty and dad Mark out of the next series following their daughter’s success in the I’m A Celebrity jungle, the Sunday People reports .

The couple had been regulars with Scarlett, 26, on the hit Channel 4 show, critiquing shows from their sofa in Bishop Auckland, Co Durham.

But a spokeswoman for the series, which returns on Friday, confirmed last night: “The Moffatt family will not be appearing in this series.”

And a TV insider told the Mirror: “The whole premise of Gogglebox is normal people commenting on the TV. Scarlett is now a celebrity in her own right so it made sense she wouldn’t continue.

“She and her parents came as a package. It wouldn’t work so well without all three of them.”

Betty, 46, and Mark, 50, were not on screen in the last series because it clashed with Scarlett joining campmates in Australia.

Shortly before the I’m A Celeb final in December, Betty said it was “up to Channel 4” whether they continued on Gogglebox.

Scarlett, who attended the National Television Awards in London with her parents last month, is lined up to join Ant and Dec for the new series of Saturday Night Takeaway and front a revamped version of the dating show Streetmate.
