ITV1 triumphed in the ratings again on Sunday night, with its soap-free line-up of reality TV and drama beating BBC1, according to unofficial overnight figures.

The channel doesn’t seem to have suffered after its decision to drop Coronation Street and Emmerdale from the Sunday night schedule, with skating reality show Dancing on Ice pulling in around nine million viewers – a 37 per cent share.

Sunday night’s show, in which presenter Natalie Pinkham was eliminated, achieved a peak audience of 10.2 million for the 15 minutes from 7.15pm.

The third series of Wild at Heart launched with an audience of 8.1 million – a 31 per cent share – at 7.50pm, with the results show of Dancing on Ice bringing in eight million – a 30 per cent share – an hour later.

BBC1 was left trailing, with Antiques Roadshow from 7pm attracting 6.6 million – a 26 per cent share – while the second episode of period drama Lark Rise to Candleford picked up 6.5 million at 8pm.

Things evened out later in the evening, with the second episode of Stephen Fry’s drama Kingdom on ITV1 attracting 5.7 million viewers, while a new episode of BBC1’s detective drama Messiah was watched by 5.5 million.
