TV Times top picks for tonight

What’s on telly tonight? Here the TV Times team of expert reviewers highlight the best shows on Monday 30th April

The Island with Bear Grylls, 9pm, C4

After weeks of barely surviving, the island challenge comes to an end. The initial controversial idea was to see who would survive best – rich or poor – when money has no value. Both teams have massively struggled with working together and the devastating effects of so little food, with success only coming when they finally pooled resources and worked together to catch a pig. Teamwork is dreamwork, even when marooned on a desert island by Bear Grylls! Also, watch out tomorrow for Surviving the Island… (10pm, C4), which wraps up the series and talks to the contestants about their experiences. Rating: ***

The Royal Wives of Windsor, 9pm, ITV

When Megan Markle weds Prince Harry she will be joining the most famous family in the world. She will also be following in the footsteps of other women who’ve married into the House of Windsor and, in doing so, have helped transform the royal dynasty. Princess Diana and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall are among the wives who’ve had an indisputably powerful impact on ‘The Firm’. But other women, including Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge and Sophie, Countess of Wessex, have also played their parts in adapting the ancient institution to the 21st century. Royal biographers Andrew Morton and historian David Starkey are among the contributors. Continues tomorrow. Rating: ****

Westworld, 9pm, Sky Atlantic

The prospects don’t look good for the humans trapped inside the theme park. Last week’s opener saw Dolores go on the rampage, hunting down the executives she blames for inflicting violence on the park’s robot hosts. How much of her hatred stems from her awakened consciousness of their crimes, and how much is a result of her being part-programmed as another Wild West character, evil gunslinger Wyatt? More previews tomorrow.
