TV Times tops picks for tonight

What’s on telly tonight? Here the TV Times team of expert reviewers highlight three of the best shows on telly tonight for Thursday 14th December

Gypsy Kids at Christmas, 8.00pm, C5

Top of Margaret’s wish list for Christmas is a new home… oh, and a sofa with diamonds and a giant stilleto-shaped shelving unit. Here the cute eight-year-old, who lives with her travelling family in a one-room trailer, explains why she can’t wait to move into a spacious new chalet home. But will the family get their new place in time for Christmas? Elsewhere, Traveller Tony the Rhino prepares for a festive cage fight – with his nephews as elf helpers! Then, there’s endearing confusion when 10-year-old Johnny tries to put on a nativity play with his wise men bearing Gold, Frankenstein and a Mirror! Rating: ****

The Tunnel: Vengeance, 9.00pm, Sky Atlantic

The Tunnel: Vengeance

British cop Karl Roebuck and French counterpart Elise Wassermann are reunited as The Tunnel returns for a final series. There are a couple of funny nods to Brexit in the opening exchanges, yet the show’s core remains as chilling as ever. This time the pair of investigators (Stephen Dillane, Clémence Poésy) must find three British children who have been kidnapped and replaced with Syrian child refugees. Rating: ****

World Darts, 7.00pm, Sky Sports Arena

It’s day one of the PDC World Darts Championship, and once more the heavyweights will be looking to make a mark. After retaining his Grand Slam title for the third time, the almost untouchable 28-year-old Dutchman Michael van Gerwen will now turn his attention to this contest, as he looks to keep hold of this prestigious title, too.
