Secret Life of the Zoo, 8.00pm, C4

What do you do when your male golden poison frog has lost interest in the female of the species? That’s the problem they’re facing at Chester Zoo this week. Froggy twosome Pablo and Maria are hopping towards the end of their ‘best before’ date and if the zookeepers don’t hear the pitter patter of tiny tadpoles soon, it’s the end of the line for golden frogs at Chester. Meanwhile, porcupines Roxie and Henning are showing Pablo and Maria the way – they’ve just had a new baby. Rating: ****

Inside No 9, 10.00pm, BBC2

Another week, another set of characters to keep us intrigued… Comedy double act Cheese and Crackers enjoyed some moderate success in the 1980s, before variety went out of fashion and Tommy and Len fell out. Decades later, the pair are back together for one last gig – but their reunion is laced with tension and unforgotten grievances. Len (Steve Pemberton) wants to relaunch their career and audition for Britain’s Got Talent, but Tommy (Reece Shearsmith) can’t forget the past. Can they rediscover the magic that made them a success? A tender, beautifully written half hour with a typically unguessable twist. Rating: ****

England’s Forgotten Queen, 9.00pm, BBC4

Lady Jane Grey was the very first reigning queen of England. She was still a teenager when she took the throne in 1553 and yet, just nine days later, she had been deposed and was later beheaded. This three-part series uncovers the true story behind Lady Jane’s dramatic, short-lived and ultimately tragic time as Queen of England, which also saw the country taken to the brink of civil war. Presenter and historian Helen Castor reveals that the main manipulator was the powerful Duke of Northumberland. Did he persuade dying king Edward VI to make sure the protestant Lady Jane (who was also the duke’s daughter-in-law) was crowned over the Catholic Mary Tudor? Continues tomorrow and Thursday.
