With the nation’s interest in ballroom dancing piqued by Strictly Come Dancing (back next week), here are ten ordinary men and women giving the celebrities a run for their money in a charming amateur Strictly-style challenge. Over eight weeks, they learn how to be ballroom champions, every week mastering a new dance, before taking part in national competitions. Some are already award-winning freestyle dancers, while others are complete novices, such as mother and son Roberta and Harry, who have a lot to learn. “Who’s Fred Astaire?” asks Harry. “Is he like Bruce Forsyth?” Rating: ****

Strike: The Silkworm

Strike and Robin’s investigation into the ghoulish murder of author Owen Quine reaches a tumultuous climax as the gripping series draws to a close. With Strike desperately trying to clear Leonora’s name, Matthew’s mother’s funeral draws Robin away from the case. But while she is there, her detective skills uncover useful information about Quine’s literary rival, Andrew Fancourt. Some new theories about Quine’s controversial novel and the bitter feuds that he became embroiled in also come to light, but when a fall leaves Strike in excruciating pain, can Robin manage to bring the killer to book after they try to make a bid for freedom? Electric Dreams, 9.00pm, C4

Electric Dreams

Adapted from the short stories of sci-fi author Philip K Dick, this anthology series boasts a cast of big names, including Steve Buscemi, Timothy Spall, Vera Farmiga and Greg Kinnear. This first stand-alone episode, The Hood Maker, is set in a world without advanced technology, where mutant telepaths, aka ‘Teeps’, are able to read people’s minds without their permission – until people begin receiving special hoods that can block them out. Former Game of Thrones star Richard Madden is brilliant as the cop assigned to find the hood maker, with Strike’s Holliday Grainger as his mysterious Teep partner in a fantastically dark, Blade Runner-esque world.
