The actress who plays Demelza in the hit BBC1 series promises plenty of juicy new twists in her character's troubled relationship with Ross, played by Poldark heart-throb, Aidan Turner.

As Poldark bursts back onto our screens this week for a highly-anticipated third series, WOTV caught up with Eleanor Tomlinson to get the lowdown on Demelza’s crumbling marriage to Ross and to hear about the handsome new arrivals making their way to Cornwall…

Series three, which sees the French Revolution cast a shadow over life in Cornwall, picks up with Demelza having to deal with the fallout from Ross’s infidelity and the fact he could be the biological father of Elizabeth’s baby.

“They’re in a bit of a sticky spot”, smiled Eleanor in our exclusive video chat. “Ross is the potential father of Elizabeth’s child! It’s all about Demelza dealing with that and realizing she still loves him and wants to be with him so she has to put that behind her in order to move on a as a couple.”

But while things are strained between Ross and Demelza, could the betrayed wife have her head turned by a handsome new arrival?

Demelza is flattered and sparks are soon flying when she catches the eye of Lieutenant Hugh Armitage.

“He is sweet and he adores Demelza”, said Eleanor who described actor Josh Whitehouse who plays him as, “Gorgeous!”. “He gives her lots of attention that she’s been lacking from Ross. He makes her feel lovely and wanted which Ross has been neglecting to do.”

Meanwhile there are two more handsome arrivals on the scene in the shape of Demelza’s brothers, Drake and Sam played by Harry Richardson and Tom York respectively . “They are both brilliant actors, it’s lovely working with them. They have given the series a new injection of life”, said Eleanor.

With a further two series in the pipeline, the actress who revealed she stays away from all social media, told just how much she relishes playing Demelza. “She’s changed me as a  person. She’s made me stronger and that is quite amazing. I love her feistiness and her fieriness. She wears her heart on her sleeve.”

The  new series of Poldark begins on BBC1, Sunday, 9pm
